Brandon Jacobs should run wild Sunday

If you own Brandon Jacobs in your fantasy league, chances are you have been extremely disappointed. The guy who was a consensus Top 10 draft pick and certainly RB1 has delivered zero 100 yard games and has just 2 rushing scores. He even had to deflect criticism from Fox’s Tony Siragusa that he was tip-toeing at the line of scrimmage. Yikes.
Still, there is reason to be optimistic going forward, or at least for Sunday’s game against Atlanta. Here are the things working in Jacobs’ favor:
1. He’s been improving. He rushed for 76 yards against Arizona, 86 against Philly and 67 against San Diego. The latter was on 11 carries, a 6.1 yards per carry average.
2. Ahmad Bradshaw, who was threatening to take over the starting gig, hurt his foot and has really been struggling. Bradshaw is getting better but he won’t threaten to take over Jacobs’ role as the MAN in the backfield.
3. The Falcons are one of the worst teams against the run, currently ranking 25th. The Chargers are 23rd, so it stands to reason that Jacobs should have similar yards-per-carry success against Atlanta.
4. Tom Coughlin wants to get back to Giants football, and that means running the ball and stopping the run. The Giants have historically been very tough to beat when their run game is clicking.
So if you have stuck with Jacobs on your fantasy squad, you deserve a lot of credit. And hopefully this Sunday, you will be rewarded for that loyalty.
