A little late for complaint

November 17th, 2009 | by mike577 |

One of the funnier things to happen over the bye week was when Giants’ owner John Mara filed a complaint with the NFL  about the schedule–namely, that his team had to play on Thanksgiving night away from home.  And it wasn’t so much the being away from their families part for his team that Mara raised a fuss about, but the fact that they had to play a road game on short notice.

First of all, everyone feels the brunt of the schedule at one point or another.  Secondly, the G-men have not played on Turkey Day in 17 years.  But really where I have a problem with this is my third point–the fact that you’re making this complaint NOW, and not when the schedule was released back in April.  We all know the league wasn’t going to change anything either way, but complaining about it 10 days before the game is kind of silly.

Perhaps Mara, like the rest of the G-men players and coaches, is just feeling the heat of a four-game losing streak and is feeling like playing that game in Denver on short rest with travel across two time zones, plus in the mile-high air, is a distinct disadvantage for a team starving for wins.  I can understand that part.

But basically, life sucks sometimes, and you live with it.  Let’s just hope we win Sunday and then escape Denver with another win to get to 7-4 while enjoying the rest of the holiday weekend.
